"I've always created art, my first mural was in 1969." "I've been drawing since I was three years old. My first solo show at six was to prove to my dad that I was good at doing art." "I create my art to heal the hearts and souls of people by creating positive imagery." "Over the past forty-two years I have created more than 175 murals and over 300 children/community murals and public art sculptures. The themes range from histories of communities and towns to my unique style of rythme patterns and spirit writing. Including; Curator of thematic exhibitions; Site specific installations and collaborations; Set design for numerous theaters in MN, and CA; Worked as an art administrator and art educator that spans over twenty five years. My illustrations have been used on a city bus for ´A Capitol New Year´ by the city of Saint Paul, MN and billboards for the State of Minnesota´s Anti Crack Cocaine campaign targeting the young African America population, six images were displayed and used for posters, in addition to many book covers, menues, posters, and album covers. Key's Resturant in Downtown Minneapolis decor features my work exclusively. Community activistism includes serving on arts boards for such places as; The Minneapolis Arts Commission, African American Cultural Arts Center (Pres), Forecast Public Arts, Saint Paul Arts Collective, Intermedia Arts and I have served in an advisory capacity for the City of Saint Paul and the City of Minneapolis. My work is the recipient of many prestigious award like the Minnesota State Arts Boards Headland Center for the Arts four month artist in residency program in California, the BUSH Visual Arts Fellowship, the POLLACK-KRASNER Fellowship, the Gottlieb Fellowship, and the Saint Paul Companies Leader Initiative in Neighborhoods (LIN) Fellowship; to name a few. Original paintings can be found in many collections such as The Walker Arts Center, Minnesota Museum of Modern Art, Dain Raucher Corparaion, Piper Jaffery, Honeywell, General Mills, Herbie Hancock, Taj Mahal, Earth Wind and Fire, James Earl Jones, Dr. Maya Angelou, and many, many others. Recent projects; ADC Broadband World Headquarters; Designed and painted a large mural for a soffet in the main dining area, measuring 84´ long by 11´ high and begins 19´ above the floor. ¨Charliemaine¨ Charlie Brown figure a summer campaign for the city of Saint Paul.
