Portrait by Del Bey Advertising, state government. What do you think of the Civil Rights Movement today? "It needs redirecting in my opinion. The strategies and the plans that were implemented in the 60´s, 70´s, and early 80´s are not necessarily applicable now. We have the same problems but, they need to be attacked in a different manner." Dehumanize "The way African-Americans were dehumanized at every level of our society. It caused a lot of anger. In my opinion it may have caused psychological problems....On the other hand, I could argue that it made us a superior people. Inspite of that overwhelming dehumanization the group has survived, prospered, and sent forth a new generation of young people who are well educated and now competing in the mainstream." |
