Rep. Keith Ellison


Father of four (3 boys, 1 girl) and husband to Kim Ellison for the last 15 years.
Originally from Detroit, MI, Keith grew up witnessing the power that was possible
from the intersection of the Civil Rights Struggle and the Labor Movement.
Keith represents House District 58B in the City of Minneapolis.
His district has the highest percentage of people of color in Minnesota.

Keith is practices law while the legislature is not is session
in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury,
and civil rights. Formerly, he was the executive director
of the Legal Rights Center, a non-profit law office dedicated
to fair representation to the poor. Keith also co-hosted a public affairs program
on KMOJ radio entitled, "Black Power Perspectives",
before assuming public office.

Keith's goals include increasing access and power of working people
and people of color in the legislature, and building awareness and advocacy
in the areas of environmental justice. Keith presently serves on
the Judiciary Committee, the Government Operations Committee,
and the Local Government Committee.
