Writer, performance artist, artistic director of Alchemy Theater. What do you think of the Civil Rights Movement Today? "It ended with the passage of laws. You know Lyndon Johnson and JFK... you know they signed some laws. Some people got to step up. Mostly the people who were protesting are the ones that stepped up. So when they stepped up they got a hold of the brass ring. They got what they were after. They got the houses in the suburbs. That was dead with the Movement. Things got resolved. Yes, some things got resolved. A big part of it is that people who were on the front lines pretty much got a piece of what they wanted and that was the end of the protest." |
