Director of small nonprofit. What do you think of the Civil Rights Movement Today? " Itªs strong and it has broadened its focus. There are gains that we made and there were gains lost. A good percentage of the people who were involved when they were younger are still involved in a lot of ways. I think it´s strong and healthy... The world has gotten smaller and people are being forced to move from the south to the north.I don´t mean in the U. S... I mean in the world. So immigrants are coming to our country and we are being enriched by them. The threat to their civil rights now needs to be one of our concerns... Martin Luther King was about to broaden the Civil Rights Movement to include working people and that´s why he was killed. I think that part of the Movement was lost and it´s being picked up now." |
